Seismic behaviour of confined aerated autoclaved concrete masonry buildings : a shaking table study

Masonry buildings made out of aerated autoclaved concrete masonry units are not rare among newly built masonry structures in Slovenia. But there is relatively little knowledge on their seismic behaviour and performance. By doing tests on a shaking table we have shown, that such buldings are, if built as confined masonry structures, sufficiently resistant to seismic loads and exhibit adequate seismic behaviour. The paper includes suggested parameters for use in design.

Seismic behavior of aerated autoclaved concrete buildings

This paper deals with seismic resistance of modern masonry structures built out of AAC masonry units. Various collapse mechanisms and sesimic responses are analysed. The observed results show similar response as is expected in other types of masonry - typical diagonal shear cracks and storey (pier) mechanism of collapse
