In this invited lecture at international conference in Florence, Italy, prof. Mandič-Mulec presented results of this project that indicated the correlation between ekotipes and pherotypes (communication groups) and through this partially explained mechanisms that drive diversification of pherotypes. In addition results on metabolic microarrays were discussed in detail bringing out the high diversity of metabolism within species of Bacillus subtilis and a role of the habitat type (Sava riverbank soil and Mojave desert soil) on metabolic diversification of this species.

In addition she lectured as a visiting professor to graduate students in May and December 2010. In the later course entitled "New frontiers in microbial ecology" she was invited as one of the 10 international experts on microbial ecology with a specific expertise in ecology of microbial communications, which is a major theme of this project.
