Structural characterization of liposomes made of diether archaeal lipids and dipalmitoyl-L-[alpha]-phosphatidylcholine

The physicochemical properties of binary lipid mixtures of diether C(25,25) lipids and dipalmitoyl-L-ɑ-phosphatidylcholine (DPPC) were studied using photon correlation, fluorescence and electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy.

Stability of diether C25,25 liposomes from the hyperthermophilic Archaeon Aeropyrum pernix K1

Temperature and pH effects were studied for stability, structural organization, fluidity and permeability of vesilces from a polar lipid methanol fraction isolated from Archaeon Aeropyrum pernix.

Equivalent pulse parameters for electroporation

The relations between the amplitude and duration/number of pulses resulting in the same fraction of electroporated cells were determined, using fluorescence microscopy. Pulse duration was varied from 150 ns to 100 ms, and the number of pulses from 1 to 128. With longer pulses or higher number of pulses, lower amplitudes are needed for the same fraction of electroporated cells. The relation between the amplitude and duration/number of pulses could be described with a simple two-parameter power function or logarithmic function.
