The conference talk presented the details of the domain structure of the textured PMN-PT materials. The emphasis was given on the differences in the domain structure between the bulk ceramics and the thick films. In addition, the synthesis and structural characterization of textured thick films and bulk ceramics, which were studied within this project, were also discussed.

COBISS.SI-ID: 24882727In the frame of the project we have succeeded in preparing PMN-PT templates by exaggerated grain growth of nanocrystalline powder obtained by mechanochemical activation. Furthermore, we have also succeded in the processing of textured ceramics from these templates using a procedure that involves ceramic-only technology from a single-source powder. The textured ceramics was prepared in order to compare the properties of the ceramics with those of the textured films. The ratio between the piezoelectric d33 coefficient of the textured ceramics and textured films is similar to the ratio of the d33 between the non-textured ceramics and non-textured films. The results of these studies were presented on an international conference.

COBISS.SI-ID: 25976871The invited talk on an international meeting summarises the results of our group on the processing and properties of lead-free piezoelectrics based on alkaline niobates. Due to the high relevance, we also included some of the results on KNN thick films obtained within this project. The novel results concerned the sintering and the structural orientation of the KNN thick films.

COBISS.SI-ID: 24392743The aim of our contribution was to present the influence of the different processing parameters on the structure and microstructure of the (K0.5Na0.5)NbO3 (KNN) thick films. We presented the potassium-sodium germanate, i.e., a liquid phase sintering aid, which is required for the preparation of dense KNN thick films. In addition, the influence of the packing powder, i.e., a KNN powder that controls the sublimation of volatile alkali oxides, on the structure and microstructure of the films was also discussed. Finally, we presented the piezoelectric properties of the as-prepared KNN thick films. The results presented on this conference were entirely obtained within this research project.

COBISS.SI-ID: 25977383A significant number of results on KNN thick films, which are relevant for this project, have been obtained within the diploma work of Jernej Pavlič. In addition to results on the processing and characterization, the document contains a lot of experimental details. In Slovene language only. Abstract in English.
