COBISS.SI-ID: 252579328An overview of protease signaling pathway in apoptosis was given with the emphasis on protease substrate identification. The results demonstrating that BCl-2 homologs are critical cysteine cathepsin substrates in apoptosis mediated by lysosomotropic detergents were also presented. In addition, the idea that lysosomes are destabilized downstream of mitochondria upon TNF-alpha stimulation, thereby potentially acting as signal amplifiers, was also presented.
