Analysis of Opportunities, Problems and Solutions of the Telecare for the Elderly

Telecare is an innovative system that represents an applied form of an intelligent environment. Users’ home environments are arranged following the smart house concept, connected to a remote monitoring network, and through this to providers of care and other services. Telecare represents a great opportunity for the elderly because it enables users to remain in their home environments for as long as possible, but it also raises many concerns. Therefore, opportunities, problems and solutions of a telecare are analyzed.

Critical Evaluation of Establishing a Remote Home Care System for the Elderly in Society

Due to the anticipated opportunities provided by telecare, some countries have begun establishing remote home care systems as part of the regular or general health and social care system (e.g., the British government has also worked out a strategic plan and started building a network to establish a telecare system). However, numerous setbacks have been met from the very beginning. Therefore, establishing a remote home care systems for the elderly in society is criticaly evaluated in the paper.
