Invited lecture on Pannonia Congress of Pathology with the title Molecular profiling of non-small cell lung cancer

On invited lecture I presented the study of gene expression of lung tumours, preliminary results of gene expression analysis on DNA microarrays and possible causes for detected differences in expression. We also presented differences in expression profiles between KRAS mutated and KRAS non-mutated tumours, correlations between expression of COX-2 and hTERT and gender of the patients and different molecular changes in tumours associated with histological differences.

Recipient of Golden Chromosome Award for the study: Novel LATS2, STK11 and S100A2 alterations are significant and specific for lung cancer

Analysis of gene expression revealed that LATS2, STK11 and S100A2 gene expression is significantly different in different lung tumour types. With analysis of P53 status we were able to place novel alterations in STK11 and S100A2 as early events in lung carcinogenesis and alterations in LATS2 as late. In all three genes we identified novel mutations and polymorphisms that are specific for type of lung tumours, proving existences of cancer type specific changes in those genes.
