Data about organisational characteristics and policies to control MRSA in hospitals were collected from 10 European countries. Substantial variation existed in availability of bedside alcohol hand-disinfection. Availability was much higher in participating intensive care units than in surgical departments. The results provide the evidence for control of health-care associated infections with MRSA.
