development of a new product UV-indicator functional ink on the basis of indicator dyes and TiO2

Invention refers to the UV-indicator finctional printing ink on the basis of indicator dyes and photocatalyst, which is nanodimensional semiconductor and and to the UV-indicator finctional printing ink for preparation of UV indicators for indication the quantity of UV radiation. A functional printing ink based on the defined indicator dye was prepared, which records exposure to UV light through irreversible change of colour. Such a formulation of functional printing ink satisfies all basic demands of final application, i.e. screen printing of UV- or Sun-exposure indicators. Those indicators could be used as smart tags on the packaging or clothing.

Determination of encapsulated organic pigments by electron microscopy

Facade paints are expected to preserve both the functionality and the esthetic look through long periods of time. Introduction of up-to-date components such as photocatalysts generates problems with stability of other components of coatings. It seems that the weakest link in self-cleaning paints is the degradation of organic pigments. A model organic pigment ß - copper phthalo cyanine was encapsulated by silicon dioxide via a sol gel process to obtain protection against the photocatalyst titanium dioxide. For preparation of the outer coating, potassium water glass was used as precursor. The quality of encapsulation around pigment particles was determined by Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM).
