1.
Deformation properties of gravel material subjected to traffic type stress states

Stress conditions with very low confining pressure were used to simulate specific conditions at road and railway embankments. Particular attention was paid on bedding error at the top and bottom ends of specimen and on fixing the transducers on membrane to be used under low confining pressure. The effects of large number of preloading cycles and specimen overloading are investigated.

2.
Guidelines for selection the most convenient upgrading systems based on results of heavy vehicle simulator tests and cost-benefit analyses of field trials

Six different types of road upgrading was used in selected field trials constructed in scope of EU 6th FP research project SPENS . Among others also reinforcement of asphalt layer with steel mesh. Based on analysis of permanent and residual deformations guidelines for selection of proper upgrading system were writen.

3.
The effect of moisture content in road structure upon the development of permanent deformations

The effect of moisture content upon the deformation behavior of road structure was presented based on the field test measurements. Althought load was increased for almost 100% during the test, increase of permanent strain was much more significant after short time heavy rain.
