Procedure for sol-gel preparation of anticorrosion protective coatings for solar collectors

The subject of this invention is a sol-gel procedure for the preparation of anticorrosion coatings for solar collectors, prepared from cermets applied on metals. Core of this invention are processes for the preparation of ultra thin coatings, i.e. from 0.5 to 500 nm, which do not deteriorate optical properties of solar selective surfaces. The coatings were prepared with mixing of at least one mercapto silane with, another silane in organic solvent with water and acid. So protected absobers have excellent anticorrosion stability, that is more than 20 days in slat spray chamber. The innovation was awarded by golden prize at Regional competition and golden prize of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia for innovation in 2009.

Pigments, modified with aminoacids, for spectrally selective coatings, method for their preparation and application in coatings

Black and coloured (red, green, blue) paints were prepared for use as thickness insensitive spectrally selective (TISS) paint coatings for solar facade absorbers on the basis of polyurethane binder. A low emittance of the paints was achieved by using low-emittance aluminium flake pigments, while black pigment was added to adjust solar absorptance. TISS paint coatings combine the advantages of paints (longevity and chemical resistance, variety of colours and simple application) with their spectral selectivity. The innovation was awarded by silver prize at Regional competition of Chamber of Commerce and Industry for innovation in 2009.

Coloured multilayer coatings exhibiting low solar absorptivity and high thermal emittance

This invention relates to: i) a coloured multilayer coatings that exhibit low solar absorptance and high thermal emittance, which could be used for controlling the highest temperature of coated surfaces exposed to direct sunlight; ii) the process for coating application; and iii) cool surfaces prepared by application of these coatings. The coloured coating compositions are made by mixing highly reflective metallic or metallised flakes, IR transparent or IR reflecting colorants and various binders, their high thermal emittance is assured by application of a transparent top coating possessing high thermal emittance. Coatings can be applied by spray-coating applications or by coil-coating applications.

Report on technology transfer from Laboratory for Spectroscopy of Materials (NIC) to factory Helios, d.d.

The report covers various aspects of research devoted to the development of selective coatings aiming to demonstrate the engagement of the Lab. for Spectroscopy of Materials (NIC) in improving and applying the Helios selective coatings in solar thermal systems. Spraying deposition line in STS (Celje) was used for over 500 samples. Their selectivity was determined at NIC. Results demonstrated that TISS paint coatings are fragile, unstable two particle type system which deposition needs careful adjustment of the spraying parameters in combination with the rheological properties of TISS paints.
