Electrochemical recycling of EDTA after soil washing

The new process solves the problem of EDTA recycling after washing of soils contaminated with toxic elements. Sacrificial Al anode was used to replace toxic metals from EDTA complex in alkaline pH with Al, while released metals were electro-deposited on stainless steel cathode. After neutralization the recycled EDTA maintains the same soil metal removal capacity as fresh EDTA.

Electrochemical EDTA recycling with sacrificial Al anode for remediation of Pb contaminated soil

Sacrificial Al anode was used to replace Pb from EDTA complex in alkaline pH with Al, while released Pb was electro-deposited on stainless steel cathode. After neutralization the recycled EDTA maintains the same soil Pb removal capacity as fresh EDTA.
