Preparation of expert basis for the European Water Framework Directive implementation (groundwater part)

The European Water Framework Directive (WFD) requires good chemical and quantitative status and reversal of all negative trends for all groundwater bodies. The Geological Survey of Slovenia formed an expert group which has prepared an expert basis for WFD directive implementation. In the expert basis all necessary activities are planned, from groundwater status assessment and problem identification to the proposal of measures for achieving good chemical and quantitative status of Slovenia's groundwater.

Preparation of expert groundwork and expert support in the determination of water protection areas according to the determination criteria

The waters act transfered the responsibility of protection of water bodies used for abstraction or for public drinking water supply to the government of RS. The intention of the programme is to obtain expert groundwork of water protection areas which will correspond with the Rules on criteria for determination of water protection area.
