Initiation of steroidogenesis precedes expression of cholesterologenic enzymes in the fetal mouse testes.

Original scientific article describes expression of steroidogenic and cholesterologenic enzymes in fetal mouse testes. Results presented in this article demonstrate that steroidogenesis in the fetal testis precedes cholesterologenesis suggesting that initial steps in steroid production and thus masculinization are dependent on exogenously derived cholesterol.
