COBISS.SI-ID: 18273544The lecture presents the importance of Graz for the development of Slovene studies from Megiser to the present day. All the important intellectuals from the eastern Štajerska region, who defined the eastern Štajerska literary norm, studied the Slovene language in Graz (such as Volkmer, Modrinjak, Narat etc.). The first chair of Slovene language was established there. Primic, who was thinking about the unification of the Slovene literary norm already at the beginning of the 19th century, at the same time recognizing the existence of Slovene language versions in the north-eastern part of Slovenia, also worked there. The lecture exposes Dajnko’s literary concept as a thoughtful programme decision on how to standardize the Slovene literary language between the central Slovenian language and the Kajkavian Croatian language.
