The Relativeness and Function of Historiographic Interpreting of Music – Example: the Historic Interpretation of Fundamenta in Novo mesto

Assessed were analytic and hermeneutic approaches to the interpretation of music as historically based systems for producing symbolic values in art music. The lecture proposed three critical approaches to the historical interpretation of the contents of the didactic manual for keyboard training “Fundamenta”. These differ in their impact on the contents and form of research results as much as in the level of ideological and sociological implications that these systems bring to effect by their functioning as symbolic transfers in the production and reproduction of social power.
