In the process fo the development of the White Paper on Education in the Republic of Slovenia (2011), we prepared an international comparative analysis of the inclusion of toddlers and preschool children into preschool and analyzed the enrollment into preschool in terms of social justice. Based on results of several empirical studies and international comperative analysis, we have prepared a concept of preschool education. F.23 Development of new system-wide, normative and programme solutions, and methods
We standardized the Slovenian instruments for assessing language in infants, toddlers, children and adolescents, namely the Communicative Development Inventory: Words and Gestures; Communicative Development Inventory: Words and Sentences, Storytelling Test: The Little Glove, Storytelling Test: The Frog King, Test of General Language Ability: Written language. We published the manuals for each of the instruments, which will enable the professiolnals working in the fields of education, counseling and clinical practice an early detection of non-normative language development and the creation of timely intervention programs to promote language development. In cooperation with the National Agency for the Development of School Autonomy, Regional Office for the Friuli Venezia Giulia, we presented the findings of our research on the importance of preschools for children's development and learning to the preschool teachers. We emphasized the importance and presented the possibilities of monitoring and promoting children's language development in the context of preschool curriculum thus equipping them with knowledge that it is important to ensure and maintain the quality of preschool education in preschools.
