Epigenetic biomarers in neurodegenerative disorders

Inhereted neurological and neurodegenerative disorders with mutations in genes that modify epigenetic marks, the current evidence of epigenetic dysregulation in neurodegenerative disorders and bioinformatic analysis of differentialy trancribed genes predictev to have CpG support the potential use of epigenetic biomarkers in neurodegeneration.

Gene expression changes in blood as a putative biomarker for Huntington's disease

We have demostrated that gene expression analysis in blood could be potentialy used as a biomarker for neurodegenerative disorders. Namely, we analyzed 12 genes identified in a previous global expression analysis in symptomatic as well as asymptomatic patients to find a 78% predictive value, with 82% sensitivity and 53% specificity.
