Cross-talk of the kallikrein-kinin and renin-angiotensin as revealed by a structural network.

In this lecture we firstly proposed a multilayered approach as a tool to get an in-depth into complex biological systems. The concept was exemplified with a structural network on the kallikrein-kinin and the renin-angiotensin systems (KKS-RAS), which represent two highly regulated proteolytic systems involved in many physiological and pathological processes i.e. neurodegeneration, cardiovascular and renal homeostasis, growth and development and inflammation, among others.
