In the diagnosis of pneumonia in critically ill children iCD64 and PCT were better acute markers than LBP and CRP; quantitative bacterial sputum analysis was superior to all markers.

CD64 was the most reliable marker of sepsis in the critically ill childre, while LBP was better in newborns. Combination of two markers increased diagnostic accuracy to 100%
