In the chapter fuzzy models are used for fault detection in waste-water treatment plants. A fuzzy model describes the relation between the output variable of the process and the other measured variables that influence the operation of the of waste-water treatment plant, i.e., the output variable. The Takagi-Sugeno formulation is used, which is also the most common formulation for fuzzy models. The obtained fuzzy model works in a broad operating range of the waste-water treatment plant and enable the fault detection in the case of malfunctioning.
