Stable isotopes 119Sn were used for the determination of organotin compounds (OTC) in environmental samples. Enriched stable isotopes 119Sn of butyltin compounds were added to different environmental samples (water, sewage sludge) and the analytical procedure that include extraction from the sample, ethylation followed by extraction to organic solvent and determination of OTC by gas chromatography coupled to inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (GC-ICP-MS) was applied. The method enables accurate determination of OTC and tracing of their cycling and transformations in the environment.
