Preparation of cathepsins D and E as fusion proteins with GST

Cathepsins D, cathepsin E and its spliced variant with GST were prepared and expressed as fusion protein in E. coli. Inclusion bodies were dissolved in urea and properly folded. Both cathepsin D and E were obtained as active enzymes and their activity was inhibited by pepstatin A.
