The work on hydrodynamics and artificial cilia has drawn a lot of attention in the community. In the year 2010 it has been presented at two seminar talks and the PI was also invited to participate in the progamme of the Graduate school of Leipzig University. In the field of motor proteins the PI has received invitations for talks at renowned conferences, namely the Gordon Research Conference on Muscle and Motor Proteins 2011 and the Biophysical Society Annual Meeting 2012.

COBISS.SI-ID: 23527719The work on this project was of key importance in the development of a system of artificial cilia that allows controlled fluid pumping in microfluidic applications. Despite strong competition in the field we were the first to produce a functioning prototype system of artificial cilia. Such cilia have a high potential for use in lab-on-a-chip applications where they can pump fluid without any external connections . Besides the publication in PNAS, the discovery was also reported in Nature Physics and pres tented for a general audience in the daily newspaper Delo.
