Sound is involved in multimodal communication of Loxosceles intermedia Mello-Leitao, 1934 (Araneae; Sicariidae).

The authors described vibratory signals emitted during mating behavior of the spider Loxosceles intermedia. The species is one of the most venomous spiders and in Curitiba surroundings (Parana, Brazil) several people die every year because of its poison. The joined work with Brazil partners is an important contribution to the knowledge about species biology.

Structure-borne sound in insects

At the Congress of the European Plant Protection Organisation in York the author represented the most important processes involved in teransmission of vibratory signals through plants as the medium for communication. This lecture was representation of basis for conduction of the 7th EU Framework program project Q-Detect (No. 245047, FP/-KBBE-2009) starting in April 2010.
