ČERNIČ ISTENIČ; Majda. Successes and failures of EU food quality schemes: experience from the case of 'Scent of Prekmurje', Slovenia.

The contribution presents a case study of one of the best practices incorporated into the scheme of quality food in Slovenia, ‘The taste of Prekmurje’. Established in many EU states, the aforementioned scheme is also partly covered by the measures contained in the EU-financed Rural Development Programme 2007–2013 (RDP). The case study has shown that the results of the scheme are mostly due to the entrepreneurial culture and social capital among its representatives (mainly producers), whereas RDP measures can only accelerate this process.
