Banking and insurance in Slovenia up to World War II.

In the paper author has presented the historical development of Slovene banking and insurance sector from the very beginning in 19. Century, rapid growth during the interwar period and the communist version of both sectors after the 1945. In last part the peculiarities of the banking and insurance sector during the transition period is also analyzed.

Uncompleted state – uncompleted regulation (Regulation of banking sector in Yugoslavia in interwar period).

In the paper the regulation of the banking system in the interwar Jugoslavia was presented with the emphasis on the long term stability of the banking sector as a whole and on the safety of population deposits.

The taxonomy of the economic crisis in the Slovene territory.

Author has presented the taxonomy of the economic crisis in the Slovene territory in the long run regarding the premodern and modern economic crisis. In the time of last millennium he has identified 13 major crisis periods.

Basic Characteristic of Banking Transition in Slovenia

In the context of the general social, political and economic transition the banking transition period n Slovenia was analyzed in the presentation. In the center of the analyze was the rehabilitation of the existing banking sector, its reorganization into new form and the establishment of the internationally compatible and competitive banking sector. In the end of presentation the adjustment to the regulatory framework of the EU is also included.

Education and economic development in Slovenia : some observations up to WWII

On the Slovenian case up to the WW II the theoretic presumption on correlation between the economic development or growth and the educational structure was tested. The analyze showed that the modest and inadequate educational structure (especially the lack of technical experts) of the population was one of the important obstacle that prevent the faster modernization of the economic and social Slovene territory.
