The Head of the Research Programme and its members have co-organized an important international conference, dealing with the perspectives of cross-border cooperation Between Slovenia and Croatia, showing how knowledge of the actual situiation and the potentials of the border communities can contribute to the development of better and more integrative cross-border policies.

Migrants in Slovenia - Between Integration and Alienation, 1. April 2009

Within the frame of the Programme Team we have organized also a challenging conference, dealing with the so-called "new minorities" in Slovenia, the problems relating to the acceptance of foreign workers and their integration in the Slovene society. The conference has shown the potentials of our research group in addressing these questions in both national and international scientific environments.

The scientific monograph brings several contributions of the leading Slovene and international researchers of border areas and their development potentials and confirms the central role of the Institute for Geographical Studies and the Science and Research Centre of the University of Primorska in dealing with these topics on both national and international context.

Mateja Sedmak and Lenart Škof, Editors of the International Journal Annales, Series historia et sociologia.

The members of the Programme Team are editors of the increasingly recognized scientific journal Annales, Series historia et sociologia. The latter, thanks to its quality and international impact, has been included in the list of the SSCI quoted international journals. Annales provides to the studied topics of the Research Programme also a solid international impact.

Mateja Sedmak, Head of the Public Opinion Centre of the Science and Reasearch Centre of the University of Primorska

The Public Opinion Centre of the Science and Reasearch Centre of the University of Primorska is considered as one of the most important infrastructure centres of the University of Primorska and the entire Western Slovenia. It also provides support for the realization of several research activities of the Research Programme.
