Horses and cauldrons

Die Burg Waldenberg in Oberkrain und sein archäologisches Fundgut

Waldenberg Castle near Radovljica was first built in the late 12th century by the counts of Ortenburg. The documentary history and architectural development of the castle are presented based on standing remains and archaeological discoveries. The pottery suggests a relatively high standard of supply with imported and locally produced tableware in the 15th and 16th centuries. Collection and perhaps even recycling of scrap metal took places in the castle. Small finds confirm the hypothesis that the castle was abandoned by 1616 at the latest.
