The noble Heritage of the Enlightenment: between the Poetics of Ruins and Originality

In the preface to the Slovene translation of the book Originality : the new Aesthetic Category in the Age of Enlightenment (L'originalité : une nouvelle catégorie esthétique au siècle des Lumières) by the Belgian literary historian Roland Mortier the author analyses this lucid and important work, applies Mortier's model to periods of Modernism and Post-modernism, and points out that the principle of originality plays a major role in the concept of author rights (copyright) and in the laws of the contemporary political economy.
