Globalisation and autonomy: contributions toward sociology of globalisation

Author understands globalisation as a new sociological paradigm and as a social consequence of the radical compression of space of time. Critically elaborated and introduced are the three main theoretical strategies of understanding globalisation: hyperglobalising, skeptical and transformational. Besides homogenising aspects of globalisation, the study deals with implications in terms of differentiation, new opportunities and risks that need to be confronted by nation-state, national identity, national sovereignty and modern democratic politics.
