Life and work of dr. Franc Kovačič, chairman of the organizing committee, prof. dr. Darko Fris

In the National Theatre in Maribor on 14th May 2009 a symposium that took place under the title Life and work of Dr. Franc Kovacic. The aims of the conference were to present the continuity of Slovenian national, social and cultural development in Lower Styria form the second half of the 19th century until the outbreak of World War II. The purpose of the scientific symposium organized at the 70 - anniversary of the death of Dr. Franc Kovacic were to analyze and evaluate the work of this great national worker, theologian, philosopher and historian, and to present the importance of his actions.

Cities between the Great War (1914-1918), chairman of the organizing committee, prof. dr. Darko Friš

In the auditorium of General Maister in the Slovenian Armed Forces Military Museum on 2nd and 3 December 2009 an international symposium entitled "Cities between the Great War [1914-1918] took place. The purpose of the international scientific symposium was to highlight so far not sufficiently treated issues of urban history (political, economic, cultural, religious and military and 'everyday' life) during world war I.

Slomšek Symposium on the 150-th anniversary of moving of the diocesan seat from St. Andraz to Maribor

The Great Hall of the University of Maribor on 22nd and 23 October 2009 hosted an international symposium entitled " Symposium on the 150-th anniversary of moving of the diocesan seat from St. Andraz to Maribor”. Head of our research group, prof.. dr. Darko Friš, was the president of the organizing committee of the symposium, a member of our research group, doc. dr. Andrej Hozjan has participated as a member of the organizing committee.
