Barbara Murovec: editor-in-chief and responsible editor of Umetnostna kronika (Art Chronicle)

Art Chronicle is the central Slovene professional magazine for the field of art history, art, cultural heritage, etc., intended for a widest audience; it follows and comments topical events in the discipline. It is published by the France Stele Institute of Art History at the Scientific Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts. In 2009, four numbers were issued, in which the editorial board jointly with the authors crucially intervened for several times in what was going on in the branch, particularly in the sphere of preservation of Slovene art heritage.

EDUCATIONAL WORK

The team operates within the scope of a public research institute, yet the majority of its researchers are integrated in educational process on all three levels of study at the universities of Maribor, Koper, Ljubljana and the ISH. In 2009, the programme in Art History was established at the University of Maribor, which had been devised by the members of the programme team who also give courses of several subjects, e.g. Introduction to the study of art history, History of art history, Introduction to topographical art inventories, History of architecture, Written sources for art history.

Helena Seražin, Giorgio Massari's architectural "school" on the Venetian terraferma

Lecture at the international scholarly symposium Venetian Heritage on the Shores of the Adriatic Sea: Artistic Exchange between the Terraferma, Istria and Dalmatia in the 17th and 18th centuries : Izola, 9–11 October 2009. With his works and activity the architect Giorgio Massari left a significant stamp on Venetian architecture of the mid-18th century. The authoress tried to clarify the relationship between Massari and individual local builders – architects on the Venetian terraferma and their formation and to answer the question whether these, too, can be counted among Massari’s students.

SERAŽIN, Helena. Serial History of Architecture, Renaissance : TV SLO 1. Ljubljana, 2009.

As an expert in Renaissance sacred and aristocratic architecture in Slovenia, Helena Seražin participated in preliminary works for the documentary programme Renaissance of the seroal History of Architecture in Slovenia and also appeared in it. A significant contribution to the dissemination of the knowledge about Slovene architectural heritage.

Presentation of Slovene evaluation and organization of general assembly of RIHA (Int. Ass. of Research Institutes in the History of Art) in Ljubljana

The central theme of the conference, attended by the directors of research institutes from 19 countries from Europe and the USA, was the evaluation of research work in art history and the “applicability” of various quantitative indexes for the assessment of professional work. By its integration in the association Slovenia co-fashions the principles and the research system, e.g. also the new peer review RIHA Journal, and disseminates the knowledge about Slovene scholarly and professional achievements of the discipline.
