Varieties of capitalism in Eastern Europe (with special emphasis on Estonia and Slovenia)

The authors proceed from the assumption that the institutional and economic efficiency of a particular country (or society) depends on its historic legacy or ‘path-dependence’, strategic interactions of the elite and the impact of the international environment. The main emphasis is on the connection between the dynamics and ideological preferences of political actors and the pace of reforms as well as institutional regulations.

The book deals with the models of incentives for development of SMEs. The author claims that meso-policies that are ficesed on the meso-level of systemic competitivenss are the most efficient approach for support of this vibrant but vulnerable sector.

Managing interethnic relations : Social systems perspective

Coexistence of different ethnic groups is evident and unavoidable fact of the state of modern societies. The is no necessity in disapearance of ethnic differences. While social inequalities, based on ethnic differnces are a problem, the differences themselve are something that should be accepted. This means that management of interethnic relations is becoming an increasing challlenge.

Black box of political systems: introduction to political system and public policies

Publication represents broad are of what is usually understood as political science, but at the same time it is includnig also public administration, political economy, policy analysis, etc. It is first systematic work in this field by Slovenian author, covering theory methodology and practice of political systems and public policies. At the same time this book means shift form institutional theory to social constructivism in Slovenian political science due to continuous awarness of need to differ individuals' role in institutional frame that are only consequence of interpersonal relations.

The chapter deals with cultural characteristics, that determine interactions between actors in the fields of Slovenian business, public administration and science where the stress in on the analysis of cultural (in)comatibility vis a vis 'old' EU members. It was found out there are considerable differences between analiesd fields in this regard.
