In order to check tumorigenic potential of stem cell like cells from human ovary we introduce the technology of injecting cells into the muscle of NOD-SCID mice and recorded tumour grovth and development.

Organization of the joint congress of the Slovenian Genetic Society and Slovenian Biochemical Society, otočec 2009

Members of the programme group have organized on behalf of the Slovenian Genetic Society joint congress with the Slovenian Biochemical society, which represented a central scientific event in life sciences in Slovenia in the year 2009. Numerous guests from abroad, slovene researchers who are working abroad and slovene scientists presented high quality research in the fields of biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology. The event represent an exceptional oportunity for young researchers to attract attention with their scientific results.

Prof. Dr. Peter DOVČ has been Editor in Chief of AAS in the year 2009. In this year five issues of AAS were published and prof. DOVC eddited two issues in the field of animal science.

Sinthesis and efficacy of neuraminidases in M. gallisepticum in M. synoviae

Dr. Dušan Benčina was mentor to a PhD student (young researcher), who studied the role of neuraminidases as important factor for pathogenicity in avian mycoplasmas. The results show that strains with higher neuraminidase activity invade host more efficiently and are more pathogenic.

University of Ljubljana F. Preseren Award

Biotechnology student and young researcher in the programme group Eva Ceh received University of Ljubljana F. Preseren Award for her undergraduate thesis with the title "Integration of microRNAs (miRNAs) into gene networks associated with chronic lymphocytic leukemia". The candidate collected data on potential miRNAs and their targets which are associated with chronic lymphocytic leukemia using bioinformatic approach.
