Cytokinins in a development of the maize caryopsis

A detailed spatial and temporal analysis of plant hormones cytokinins during the development of maize caryopsis reveled the occurrence of specific cytokinin form in specific tissues at specific developmental stages. The extremely high cytokinin concentration in the placento-chalazal layer is associated with a programmed cell death.
