Forest management for forest owners

A manual for forest management for forest owners, including chapters on Forests in the world and in Slovenia, Forest as an ecosystem, Forest management planning and silviculture, Forest health, Wood production, Forest products, Overview of literature and legislation

F.17 Transfer of existing technologies, know-how, methods and procedures into practice

COBISS.SI-ID: 255198464
2.
Slovenia's national inventory report 2013

Periodical national inventory of emmissions that identifies and quantifies a country's primary anthropogenic sources and sinks of greenhouse gases is essential for addressing climate change. This inventory adheres to both: a comprehensive and detailed set of methodologies for estimating sources and sinks of anthropogenic greenhouse gases, and a common and consistent mechanism that enables Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to compare the relative contribution of different emission sources and greenhouse gases to climate change.

Technical guidelines for conservation and use of forest genetic resources

Publication of a series of Technical guidelines for conservation and use of forest genetic resources, preparation of Slovenian annexes (describing specificities or providing additional information), each with a polemic foreword. 20 technical guidelines for species or groups of species, 20 annexes, 20 forewords; all prepared so as to allow compiling them into a common publication. Published in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013

Forest protection: Version 1.0

The computer programme Forest protection (VG) is the central part of an electronic system for forest rpotection in Slovenia. VG is a tool for yearly reports of the regional and central units of the Slovenia Forest Service, other reports and data analyses in the field of forest protection. It is based on the monograph Studia forestalia Slovenica 138: Prognosis in forest protection is usually done with a model. The model is just one of the prerequisite for prognosis in forest protection. Prognostic fundamentals for forest protection in Slovenia consist of following units: monitoring of harmful factors for forest, model, prognosis, and information system. The research goal was to establish all the units for prognostic fundamentals for forest protection in Slovenia. Monitoring methods for harmful factors for forest ensure first prerequisite for prognosis, i.e. data. Without data and observations of dependent and independent variables we cannot develop a model. Data must be collected according to predefined method meeting specific standards that assure minimal data quality and lowers uncertainty of the model. Therefore, data collection must be carried out in unified form that is defined with electronic system for forest protection. When all needed data is collected, we can run a simulation or begin with model development. Model development usually follows predefined steps which are described in this book. Electronic information system for forest protection in Slovenia connects all units of prognostic fundamentals. The system is built up from two units: internet portal and central database for forest protection in Slovenia. We developed internet portal for forest protection in Slovenia (www.zdravgozd.si) which represents public informational centre for forest protection. The central database is a central data warehouse for forest protection in Slovenia. It is managed by computer application for forest protection VG which we developed in the frame of our research. The access to central database is limited. Application VG is used for data collection which is defined with monitoring methods for harmful factors for forest. The collected data in this way is the basis for model development and simulations in forest protection. In this book we describe monitoring methods for selected harmful factors for forest: spruce bark beetles, Gypsy moth, Cephalcia spp., wind, snow, ice, polluted air, ozone, Monochamus spp., Eutypella canker of maple. In the last part of the book we describe examples of models and their prognoses: risk assessment for Eutypella canker of maple, longterm prognosis of damages done to spruce because of spruce bark beetles, potential occurrence of stripcankering of beech, longterm assessment of forest health in Slovenia. With the research described in this book we established informational centre for forest protection in Slovenia and we developed all units of prognostic
