Borut Bohanec was appointed as a member of external evaluation team, which performed external evaluation of University of Nova Gorica. As a team member he was involved in discussions and elaboration of outcomes for all subjects with emphasis on the structure of personnel.

Within his presentation, meant for general public, authors opinion of modern plant biotechnology methods was elaborated. He has received several compliments from well respected colleagues from around the world.

In relation to the popularization of science, B. Bohanec and B. Javornik have participated in numerous radio and television broadcasts, has had interviews, published critical thinking and has given lectures at public meetings. These popular contributions, in addition to presentation of the group research work, were mainly discussing issues on genetically modified organisms.

COBISS.SI-ID: 7495289In 2013 B.Javornik was appointed a »Knight of the Order of the Hop« of the International Hop Growers Convention for her distinguished achievements in hop research and for the transfer of research results to practice. The research group of B.Javornik has close collaboration with hop breeders, providing them with biotehnological tools for the improvement of effectiveness in hop breeding. The research group has also developed various diagnostic methods for the detection of hop pathogenes, including methods for the detection of hop viroid and for the detection of the lethal pathotype of Verticillium albo-atrum that are currently used as routine methods.
