As a new Slovene walnut cultivar, Krka was released in the year 2013. It was developed throughout positive mass selection of domestic populations of common walnut, Juglans regia L. It has got its names from the river basin where the original tree is still growing. The tree of ‘Krka’ is vigorous and densely branched. It has medium susceptibility to walnut blight, walnut husk fly and spring frost. Fruiting behaviour is lateral and asures very high and stable yield. The nut is small to medium, round shaped. A bright kernel is easily removable; the kernel percent frequently exceeds 50 %. Owing to its good yielding capacity, we also recommend it for orchard planting in warmer areas.

The tree of ‘Sava’ is vigorous and has spreading growth habit, low susceptibility to walnut blight and walnut husk fly, and resistance to winter and late-spring frosts. It has intermediate fruiting behaviour. Yield is good and regular. The nut is of medium to large size and long trapezoid shape with bright and smooth shell. The kernel is bright and can be easily removed from the shell. The cultivar is appropriate for orchard and garden planting in all, even colder production areas.

The machine consists of a set of elements, which contribute to a better functioning of the oven-dryer and consequently, faster drying. The device turns the fruit and nuts, which change their position and thus dry faster. The device is automatized and the level of shaking and turning of the fruit and nuts can be adjusted.

The basic technological measures in nursery of woody plants and grapevine are presented according to several production steps: propagation, grafting, maintenance of young nursery plants and sale of appropriate plants. Different technological practices in production of several types of seedlings such as fruit plants, ornamental plants and forest plants are discussed.

The chapters are divided into 7 parts (sections). Part 1 covers non-target effects of insecticides, while part 2 is dedicated to integrated methods for pest control, where insecticides present an important element for diminishing the populations of the insect pests. Part 3 includes the chapters about the non-chemical alternatives to insecticides, such as metabolic stress and plant extracts. Insecticides and human health is the main topic of the part 4, and interactions between insecticides and environment are discussed in the part 5. Part 6 covers the chapters about insecticides against pests of urban area, forest and farm animals, while biotechnology and other advances in pest control are discussed in the last, seventh, part of the book.
