The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of developmental defects of enamel (DDE) and dental caries on first permanent molars (FPM) among children living in Slovenia. 478 children, aged 6-11.5 years, were examined. Among 1912 FPM examined 13.2% had DDE. FPM with DDE had more dental caries and more fillings than FPM without DDE (p(0.01). In a group of children with all four FPM without DDE more children had all four FPM free of dental caries and fillings than in a group of children with at least one FPM with DDE (p(0.05).
F.30 Professional assessment of the situation
COBISS.SI-ID: 25830873A psychometric analysis of Slovenian translation of the internationally accepted questionnaire “Oral Health Impact Profile” was carried out and within its scope the quality of life of Slovenian patients with temporomandibular joint disorders or bruxismus was investigated and the quality of life of TMJ patients during the first year of treatment with the relaxation splint monitored.
F.30 Professional assessment of the situation
COBISS.SI-ID: 246737152We compared sagittal and vertical growth of the facial skeleton in patients with a unilateral cleft lip and palate (UCLP) with the standards of a non-cleft population of the same ethnicity characteristics and assessed breathing and tongue posture. The mean values of lateral cephalograms showed a retrusive position of the up. and low. jaw and a vertical growth pattern. 20% of UCLP patients had combined breathing pattern and signs of incorrect tongue posture. A large variety of growth patterns are present in UCLP subjects, many of which are balanced but different to the non-cleft population.
F.30 Professional assessment of the situation
COBISS.SI-ID: 25743833If unilateral posterior crossbite (UPC) is not treated as soon as possible in the child development, the whole orofacial complex is developed asymmterical in the period of growth and development. With early treatment of UPC we assure proper development of orofacial complex and performance of correct orofacial functions. Using three-dimensional ultrasonography we objectively assessed changes in the tongue posture before and during treatment of UPC and compared the results with changes in children without UPC.
