Parthenogenetic structures from the ovarian stem cells

Stem cells were isolated from the ovarian surface epithelium, grown in vitro and their embryonic like character was shown. After a modified cultivation method was used they developed into oocyte-liek cells that continued development into parthenogenetic blastocyst like structures.

Analysis of cord blood units donated to the Slovenian cord blood bank

As the basic prerogative for stem cell research, a public umbilical cord blood bank (UCB) is essential. The aim of our research was to analyse CB units donated to the Slovenian public cord blood bank. Of donated CB units, 46 % contained more than 750 X 10E6 nucleated cells and fulfilled the international criteria for CB storage in our bank.
