Clinical relevance of the preoperative ultrasonic examination of the axillary lymphnodes in early breast cancer patients

The study population of the thesis were patients with ultrasonically negative axillary lymphnodes candidates for the sentinel lymph node biopsy. He found that the nomogram developed at the MSKK was not useful to predict the probability of nonsentinel lymph node metastase in our population. Therefore nomograms were developed that incude also the information of the preoperative US of teh axilla. Finally, he found that the imprint citology of the sentinel lymph nodes might not be indicated in the studied population.
