12/08/2010 »Fusion Pore Properties of Peptidergic Vesicles« 12/08/2010 »Astrocytes, Regulated Exocytosis and Vesicle Traffic«

Invited lectures have been presented at two institutions in Peking: Institute of Molecular Medicine, Peking University, Beijing, China. Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Science, Beijing, China. Within the frame of EXPO 2010 the role of A. Herberstein (Song Liu) from Slovenia was presented in astronomy in China in 18th century.

cAMP increases the sensitivity of exocytosis to Ca(2+) primarily through protein kinase A in mouse pancreatic beta cells.

The authors have in this paper detrmined the role of cAMP in the sensitivity of secretory apparatus to intracellular activity of Ca2+ in mouse pancreatic beta cells. cAMP has multiple targets in a cell. The most prominent target in beta cells is the activation of protein kinaze A by cAMP. In this paper describes the mechanism and potential applications of this knowledge in the understanding of different secretagougues and drugs action on cells beta via cAMP, such as incretin GLP-1.

Analysis of confocal images using variable-width line profiles.

We have developed the computer software tool to analyse the profiles of intensities of fluorescent probes in confocal images. The software averages neighbouring pixels, adjacent to the central line, without reducing the spatial resolution of the image. As an experimental model, we have used the skeletal muscle fibre isolated from the rat skeletal muscle extensor digitorum brevis.

Lipid-protein interactions in exocytotic release of hormones and neurotransmitters.

For the introduction of a new research direction and new collaboration with a laboratory in Cembridge (UK) we published a paper reviewing the interactions between lipids and proteins in the process of regulated exocytosis. This review is an important platform for the preparation off a doctorate thesis of B. Rituper and also groundwork for opening a new experimental field studying the role of lipids in elementary vesicle fusion.

Induction/engineering, detection, selection, and expansion of clinical-grade human antigen-specific cd8+ cytotoxic t cell clones for immunotherapy.

To expand our cell physiology programme into more applicable domains, immune cells are studied. Here we published a review paper. Adoptive transfer of effector antigen-specific immune cells is becoming a promising treatment option in allogeneic transplantation, infectious diseases, cancer, and autoimmune disorders. In this article we review and comment latest approaches and techniques used for preparing large amounts of antigen-specific CTLs, suitable for clinical use.
