The research challenges and achievements of Slovenian researchers in medically important microorganisms.

T. Avšič-Županc had an invited lecture at the academia during the 50-years celebration of the Slovenian Society of Microbiology, prepared jointly with colleagues T. Matos and M. Muller-Premru. The lecture was an overview of the highlights in worldwide and Slovenian research and achievements in clinical microbiology in the past ten years.

Hantavirus infections in Slovenia

Invited lecture at the VIIIth International Conference on HFRS, HPS & Hantaviruses, three-annual world conference, was presented during the session Epidemiology by T. Avšič-Županc. She presented an overview of 25 years long research of Hantaviruses and HFRS presence in Slovenia with emphasize on epidemiological, clinical, virological and ecological investigations performed in Slovenia.

Carbapenem-non-susceptible Enterobacteriaceae in Europe: conclusions from a meeting of national experts.

Since NDM-1 strains are repeatedly being imported into Europe, a consultation of experts from 31 countries set out to identify the gaps in diagnostic and response capacity, to index the magnitude of carbapenem-non-susceptibility across Europe using a novel five-level staging system, and to provide elements of a strategy to combat this public health issue in a concerted manner. M. Muller-Premru was invited as an expert from Slovenia.

Immunology manual

Immunology handbook is a manual designed for undergraduate students attanding the course of Immunology. Excercises in the manual representing basic procedures that are used in daily routine diagnostics and in a research work in an immunology laboratoy. Contents include chapters -all relevant to the study material of the subject. The nowelty of the manual is that some themes are problem based study oriented.
