Analysis of flicker propagation with representative samples of network voltage

This paper introduces representative voltage samples that enable the calculation of flicker levels throughout the network. The shorter 1-s voltage samples are extracted from the instantaneous voltages measured and can represent the longer operating periods of an arc furnace. The calculation of flicker levels with the use of voltage samples is practical and eliminates the need for flicker measurements in an arbitrary network node. In addition, the flicker levels in nodes under the influence of flicker from multiple arc furnaces can be obtained without the use of superposition factors

Short-term transmission-loss forecast for the Slovenian transmission power system based on a fuzzy-logic decision approach

This paper presents a novel short-term active-power-loss forecast method using power-flow analysis for the forecasted day. Specifically, this includes short-term load and generation forecasts as well as network-topology forecasts, which are used for the power-flow calculations and the resulting active-power loss calculations. To minimize the forecast errors, a fuzzy-weight grouping of the different short-term load and generation forecast results is proposed. An additional step for input-data pre-processing is presented, where the fuzzy clustering considers the patterns for training the forecasting models.

Monitoring the first frequency derivative to improve adaptive underfrequency load-shedding schemes

In this paper a procedure for improving the operation of adaptive underfrequency load shedding schemes is presented as well as theoretical background for its explanation. Despite knowing active power deficit estimation, that caused rapid frequency decay, it is possible to usefully apply monitored first system frequency derivative in order to improve the amount of disconnected load and also power system frequency response. The presented procedure has been appropriately tested.
