Monitoring of environmental aspects during the planning of the hydroelectric pumped-storage power plant on the river Drava in Slovenia

This paper presents a study of the river water that is planned to be pumped from the Drava River to 700 m-higher upper storage reservoir of the hydroelectric pumped-storage power plant Kozjak. Constituents of river water may affect to the existing ecosystem on this area, therefore, the knowledge about the chemical and microbiological properties of water is necessary. Special attention has to be given to the determination of concentration and composition of suspended material. This material will has to be periodically removed and transported to the dumping ground.
