TRONTELJ, Janez, SEŠEK, Aleksander. Microcoil design for integrated magnetic sensors calibration

Magnetic microsystems are often inaccurate, nonlinear and heavily temperature dependent. Those features can be corrected by the use of integrated microcoil generating reference magnetic field, which can be used for online calibration of the sensor. Integrated system with magnetic sensor and coil, with its advantages and drawbacks, is presented. Magnetic sensor requirements are given and microcoil design is shown. Guidelines for optimization between self-heating and magnetic efficiency is given. High frequencies requirements for coil design and some solutions are presented.

TRONTELJ, Janez, SEŠEK, Aleksander. Circuit for position determination by means of a sine and cosine signal

Subject of invention is interpolator, which consists of input part with distribution of input signal on segments and generation of capacitor charging function with adaptive timer. Output is pulse- width modulated signal, which presents information of current position and angle respectively. Condition for correct operation is that input signals are orthogonal.

MAČEK, Marijan, NOVAK, Franci, CACOVICH, Bruno. Technological aspects of microbolometers and microthermistors

Properties of microbolometers depend mostly on their heat conductance Gth and temperature coefficient of resistivity TC. Heat conductance can be minimised shrinking the dimensions or selecting material with lower heat conductivity. Our experiences leads to the conclusion that optimising micromachining parameters leads to better results than selection of “better” but technologically unproven material.

STRLE, Drago. Low-noise signal processing for capacitive MEMS/NEMS sensors

The paper presents architecture, design, modeling and implementation of low-noise signal processing electronics needed to implement high-resolution MEMS/NEMS based capacitive sensors interfaces. Using signal processing with appropriately distributed analogue and digital signal processing circuitry, a very high SnR is achieved, which makes possible to sense a capacitance difference smaller than 0.5aF/?Hz on a 2pF sensing capacitors. The circuitry is implemented in 0.350µm BCD technology and occupies approx. 2.5 mm2.
