Organization of the international scientific workshop and postgraduate course "Electroporation-based Technologies and Treatments"

In November 2013, we successfully organized and carried out the 7th international scientific workshop and postgraduate course "Electroporation-based technologies and treatments". The lecturers were the most eminent and established international experts in electroporation: Eberhard Neumann, Justin Teissié, Lluis M. Mir, Veronique Préat, P. Thomas Vernier, Mounir Tarek, Marie-Pierre Rols, Javier Raso, Emmanuela Signori, James C. Weaver and Dietrich Knorr. The audience comprised 64 atendees (lecturers and students). Students came from Slovenia and 12 other countries, as the course is a part of the credit system of the EU doctoral studies programmes.

Associate Editor of an international scientific journal

Since 2002, Prof. Damijan Miklavčič has been serving as Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering (ISSN 0018-9294, JCR IF 2012 = 2.348), in 2013 overviewing the peer review of 21 newly submitted manuscripts.

Algae and their potential for practical use

On 27th June 2013, the head of the research programme prof. dr. Damijan Miklavčič participated in a radio show "Voices of the worlds" on the national radio - Radio Slovenia 3 - discussing the topic of algae and their potential for practical use in the field of biotechnology.

On 29th May 2013, the head of the research programme prof. dr. Damijan Miklavčič held a popular lecture about electroporation at the event "Science on the road, knowledge and ideas in the air". Health through technology

With the exhibition "Health through technology: contribution of Slovene science to the development of medicine", we want to bring the achievements of Slovenian scientists, who have for many years led the way in some areas of biomedical engineering, closer to public. We are introducing the most prominent scientists and their achievements leading to applications in medicine, and pointing out what each discovery meant in a wider, global context.
