Organization of the international scientific workshop and postgraduate course "Electroporation-based Technologies and Treatments"

In November 2009, we successfully organized and carried out the 4th biannual international scientific workshop and postgraduate course "Electroporation-based technologies and treatments". The lecturers were the most eminent and established international experts in electroporation: Eberhard Neumann, Justin Teissié, Lluis M. Mir, Veronique Préat, P. Thomas Vernier, Richard Heller and others. The audience comprised students from Slovenia and over 25 other countries, as the course is a part of the credit system of the EU doctoral studies programmes.

The book Advanced Electroporation Techniques in Biology and Medicine was published by CRC Press (Taylor & Francis Group). It consists of 27 chapters spanning 501 pages, written by the leading experts on electroporation techniques in biology and medicine. Editors: Andrei G. Granted international patent

The patent was granted on elektroporation device that performs real-time conductivity measurements of the tissue exposed to electric pulses, adjusting the pulse amplitude based on these measurements. This leads to a higher fraction of reversibly porated tissue, while reducing the irreversible damage, including the thermal damage due to excessive current density.

Associate Editor of an international scientific journal

Since 2002, Prof. Damijan Miklavčič has been serving as Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering (ISSN 0018-9294, JCR IF 2009 = 2.154), in 2009 and 2010 overviewing the peer review of 23 submitted manuscripts.
