P2-0209 — Annual report 2012
1.
Automated diagnostics of coronary artery disease: long-term results and recent advancements.

Historical overview and recent results in development and implementation of computational procedure that entirely automates reading and interpretation of scintigraphic cardiac images. The main achievement of its practical use would be reliable help (often better than that provided by experienced specialists) to less experienced physicians, especially when making a diagnosis based on scintigraphic images. This leads to lower workload and thus reduced costs of (rarely available) expert physicians as well as shorter waiting times for patients, thus preserving health and developing health care.

Longer scientific visit at prestigeous institution

Following an invited lecture on bioinformatics for the analysis of protein-RNA interactions, which were developed in Slovenija in collaboration with Jernej Ule’s laboratory at MRC LMB, Cambridge, UK, researcher Tomaž Curk, PhD, received an initiation for a longer visit of Matthias Hentze’s laboratory at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg, Germany. The ten-month visit started in September 2012. During the stay, Curk is developing new computational methods for the identification of interaction sites on proteins and also to plan long-term research collaboration with EMBL.
